METEOR MODEL RKM1 NX848E

Meteor model RKM1 NX848E was manufactured during 1929 as S/N 2. once at the Grand Central Air Terminal (GCAT), on Wednesday, May 13, 1931 at 10:50AM. the Operator noted in the remarks column of the Register, "Several hops" as if the airplane was being used for demonstration or testing. The airplane's first flight had occurred about a year earlier as indicated in the photograph, left, from this REFERENCE.
Interestingly, NX848E, rare as it was, landed once and is signed into the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register May 16, 1931. The pilot and a single passenger were eastbound from Yuma, AZ to Wichita, KS. Perhaps the hops at GCAT were in preparation for this cross-country flight.
There is no data on this airplane at the Smithsonian. The FAA destroyed the records it kept for this airplane in 1978. Its sparse technography is online at the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register Web site at the link.
