WACO RNF NC621Y

Waco RNF NC621Y (S/N 3336) was recorded three times in the Grand Central Air Terminal (GCAT) Register, all on May 28, 1931 at 1:50PM, 1:52PM and 5:43PM. Tower Operator Wright left nothing else for us in the Register except the airplane registration number, his name and the time and date. Below, courtesy of Andy Heins (left sidebar) is a photograph of NC621Y.

Below are the Manufacturing Specifications at the time of manufacture, August 22, 1930. Other than the engine and propeller serial numbers and the color, there is little other useful information. It was painted vermilion and silver, a common factory color scheme.

NC621Y was transferred to the Troy Flying Service, Troy, OH as of August 22, 1930. About five months later, Troy transferred it to Joseph B. McCandless of Inglewood, CA. None of the owners were known Register pilots, although McCandless could have been flying during one of the three flights to GCAT.

Note that mail was returned to the Civil Aeronautics Authority as of March 4, 1946. NC621Y still has a presence in the FAA database online. It is classified as a deregistered aircraft, having been deregistered July 12, 1948. According to the record, it was last owned by a gentleman in Hartford, WI. If you have information about the airplane, please let me KNOW.
